Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately in a fast-paced emergency setting
• Provide high-quality direct nursing care, including medication administration and interventions
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the ED team to develop and implement care plans
• Perform critical procedures and monitor patients for changes in condition
• Document patient condition, treatments, and outcomes clearly and timely
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
• Support unit operations by assisting with patient flow, transfers, and ED throughput

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; Hawaii RN license preferred or ability to obtain
• Emergency nursing experience or strong ED orientation mindset
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) recommended
• Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to prioritize in high-acuity situations
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and documentation skills
• Ability to work rotating 12+ hour shifts including nights and weekends as needed

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and rapid emergency assessment
• IV therapy, medication administration, and basic procedures
• Cardiac monitoring and acute care principles
• Electronic medical record documentation proficiency
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and lead during emergent events
• Patient and family education with cultural sensitivity
