Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage and assess patients promptly and accurately in a fast-paced ED environment
• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to patients of all ages
• Administer medications and treatments safely according to protocol
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and ancillary staff to coordinate care
• Perform and interpret ongoing patient assessments and escalate changes
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly and timely
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up
• Support a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement in the ED

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Hawaii or eligibility under compact licensure
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS) preferred or willingness to obtain
• Experience in emergency nursing or a high-acuity setting preferred
• Excellent clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to prioritize
• Ability to work independently on per diem assignments and integrate quickly with teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and triage skills in emergency care
• Familiarity with ED workflows, rapid patient turnover, and acute interventions
• Competence with medication administration and IV therapies
• Ability to document clearly in electronic medical records
• Calm decision-making under pressure and effective team communication
• Basic familiarity with common emergency equipment and monitoring devices
