Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered emergency nursing care in the ED/ER
• Triage and assess patients rapidly to prioritize treatment and ensure safety
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments according to protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the ED team to develop and execute care plans
• Document clinical care accurately and timely in the patient record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up plans
• Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and unit-based huddles
• Maintain current certifications and contribute to a positive, professional work environment

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be eligible to practice in Hawaii)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) strongly preferred
• Prior experience in Emergency Department / Emergency Room settings preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and triage skills with the ability to act decisively in urgent situations
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team

Education

• Nursing diploma, Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• BSN preferred where available; required RN licensure to practice

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in emergency nursing assessment and triage
• Skilled with IV insertion, medication administration, and monitoring of unstable patients
• Familiarity with common ED procedures and protocols
• Comfortable using electronic medical records (EMR) for documentation and orders
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and maintain composure in high-acuity situations
• Committed to patient safety, infection control, and evidence-based practice
