Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide timely, compassionate emergency care to patients of all ages in the ED/ER
• Triage and assess patients quickly, prioritizing care based on acuity
• Initiate and manage treatments, medications, and IV therapies safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly in the medical record
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Respond effectively to codes and emergent situations with calm leadership

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in Hawaii (or eligibility for licensure) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required or obtained shortly after hire; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred for mixed-age EDs
• Prior emergency department experience preferred (1+ year preferred, new grads with strong emergency training are encouraged to apply)
• Current ACLS/BLS/PALS certifications maintained per facility policy
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in high-acuity settings
• Proficiency with IV starts, medication administration, and emergency procedures
• Excellent communication with patients, families, and interprofessional teams
• Comfortable using electronic health records and documenting care accurately
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm under pressure
• Commitment to patient safety, infection control, and evidence-based practice
