Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately in the emergency department
• Provide focused, evidence-based nursing care to stabilize and treat urgent conditions
• Administer medications, start IVs and perform clinical procedures safely and confidently
• Collaborate with physicians, techs and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
• Document patient assessments, interventions and outcomes clearly in the EHR
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans and follow-up
• Respond to codes and rapid responses, using ACLS/BLS protocols when needed
• Advocate for patient safety and quality improvement in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in Louisiana or compact RN license accepted if applicable
• BLS required; ACLS preferred or required depending on facility policy
• Previous emergency department (ED/ER) experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced team environment
• Current immunizations and ability to pass facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required or equivalent; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and emergency nursing protocols
• Ability to manage multiple high-acuity patients simultaneously
• Proficiency with EHR documentation and electronic charting
• Skilled in IV therapy, medication administration and emergency procedures
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Calm decision-making under pressure and strong prioritization abilities
