Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Day 06:30 AM - 07:00 PM and Night 06:30 PM - 07:00 AM; schedule set by manager, rotating coverage with every-other-weekend requirement (manager-determined days)
Hours per Week: 48
Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality intermediate/stepdown cardiac nursing care to downgraded CVICU and cardiac patients
- Continuously monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms, and act promptly on changes
- Titrate and manage drips (common agents include amiodarone, nitro, nicardipine, epinephrine, diltiazem, and other BP meds) according to protocols
- Collaborate with cardiology, thoracic, cath lab, EP teams, and multidisciplinary staff to coordinate patient care
- Troubleshoot and assist with respiratory equipment such as BiPAP and CPAP and escalate as needed
- Complete accurate documentation in EPIC and participate in unit-specific orientation and skills validation
- Serve as a reliable team member who may float to similar or lower acuity units when needed
Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing (must be eligible to submit)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required
- Minimum 1 year of experience caring for cardiac/stepdown or intermediate cardiac patient populations (experience with telemetry and titratable drips preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret ECG/telemetry independently
- Driver's license required at submittal (used to confirm radius compliance)
- Must not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and/or Dignity)
- Ability to pass an open-book RN skills exam during orientation (90% required to remain on assignment)
Education
- Active RN license required; Associate Degree/Diploma or BSN acceptable (BSN not required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm/ECG interpretation
- Titration and management of vasoactive and antiarrhythmic drips
- Familiarity with EPIC electronic health record charting
- Experience with stepdown/CVU level care and common cardiac diagnoses (CHF, A fib RVR, CVA, post-op thoracic patients)
- Comfort working alongside cath lab, EP, and structural heart teams
- Basic respiratory troubleshooting (BiPAP, CPAP, nasal cannula) and collaboration with RT
- Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, and clear communication skills
