Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity cardiovascular critical care to CICU patients with compassion and clinical excellence
• Manage mechanical ventilation and tracheostomy care to optimize respiratory support
• Titrate vesicant medications and pressors safely while monitoring hemodynamics
• Set up and interpret PA catheters and other advanced hemodynamic monitoring tools
• Perform telemetry interpretation and respond rapidly to arrhythmias, including cardioversion and transvenous pacing
• Care for invasive devices and procedures such as central lines, chest tubes, CRRT, IABP/Impella support, and post-procedure monitoring
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team
• Serve as a resource in emergencies and participate in unit-specific protocols and quality initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — ability to obtain state licensure for North Carolina required for travel assignments
• Minimum 2 years of ICU/CVICU or critical care nursing experience
• Demonstrated experience with mechanical ventilation, tracheostomy care, telemetry interpretation, and hemodynamic monitoring including PA catheter setup/interpretation
• Comfortable titrating vesicant meds, pressors, sedation and paralytics
• Experience with advanced cardiac support devices and procedures (IABP, Impella, CRRT, cardioversion) is highly desirable
• Certifications: CCRN recommended; unit indicates no mandatory certifications but advanced certifications are appreciated

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical care and cardiac/CVICU knowledge
• Mechanical ventilator management and tracheostomy care
• Telemetry rhythm interpretation and arrhythmia management
• Hemodynamic monitoring and PA catheter setup/interpretation
• Familiarity with CRRT, IABP and Impella technologies
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic documentation
• Ability to perform or assist with procedures: chest tube care, central line management, bronchoscopy support, pericardiocentesis and thoracentesis
• Excellent situational awareness, prioritization, and teamwork skills
