Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity, evidence-based nursing care to medical-surgical cardiac ICU patients
• Assess patients continuously and deliver targeted bedside shift report for safe handoffs
• Titrate vasoactive drips, sedatives, insulin, and heparin per unit protocols
• Operate and manage infusion pumps, CRRT, and other advanced therapies
• Interpret telemetry and read cardiac/monitoring strips independently
• Troubleshoot respiratory equipment from nasal cannula through ventilator support
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and eICU remote monitoring to optimize outcomes
• Support neurosurgery and complex cases involving EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino monitoring, and balloon pumps when needed
• Document thoroughly in EPIC and follow intentional hourly rounding practices
• Embrace continuous learning — complete orientation skills checks and maintain competency

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (able to practice in the U.S.)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience (ICU or critical care strongly preferred)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (must be current at time of submission)
• Driver's license required at submittal (used to verify radius requirement)
• Comfort titrating drips and managing high-acuity interventions
• Willingness to complete orientation skills exam (open-book) and achieve required competency

Education

• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) — active license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation with confidence
• Experience with CRRT, infusion pump management, and advanced hemodynamic devices (e.g., balloon pumps, Impella)
• Familiarity with neuro monitoring (Camino), EVDs, and lumbar drains
• Ventilator troubleshooting (CPAP/BiPAP/High Flow/Vent) and collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Proficiency with EPIC charting system
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and bedside reporting skills
• Cultural competency caring for diverse populations and non-English-speaking patients
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced ICU environment
