Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures to locate, evaluate, and record anatomical and functional data for accurate diagnosis
• Conduct stress echos, transesophageal echoes, 2-D echo with M-mode, color flow, and cardiac Doppler studies
• Execute cardiovascular diagnostic tests including EKGs, event monitors, cardiac monitors, pulmonary function tests, lower extremity Doppler studies, and stress testing
• Record procedure data in patient charts and EMR systems while promptly alerting physicians to critical results
• Maintain and disinfect cardiology equipment to ensure patient safety and operational excellence
• Support supply inventory, patient transport, and clerical duties that keep the department running smoothly
• Supervise and instruct students while precepting new team members to foster growth and excellence
• Participate in monthly cardiovascular meetings and continuous quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Vascular/Echocardiography from an accredited institution or on-the-job training with an Associate's degree in Allied Health
• CCI or ARDMS registered cardiac sonographer (or registry eligible)
• Current CPR/BLS certification required
• One to two years of echocardiography experience preferred, including 2-D echo with M-mode, spectral and color flow Doppler, TEE, and stress echo
• Active state license required

Education

• Associate or Bachelor's of Science degree in Vascular/Echocardiography from an accredited institution
• On-the-job training with an Associate's degree in Allied Health also accepted

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of clinical interventions and equipment for diverse patient populations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and the care team
• Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and maintain composure in fast-paced environments
