Roles & Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver person-centered therapeutic recreation interventions for patients in a mental health setting
• Lead group and individual sessions that build coping skills, socialization, and functional leisure activities
• Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team to support treatment planning and patient goals
• Document patient progress, treatment notes, and outcomes clearly and on time
• Develop individualized leisure plans that promote recovery, engagement, and community reintegration
• Ensure a safe, therapeutic environment and follow facility policies and safety procedures
• Assist with orientation and precepting as needed during the initial two-week schedule alignment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field preferred
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred or equivalent credential
• Experience working in mental health or behavioral health settings is preferred
• Current CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or related field preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of therapeutic recreation approaches for mental health populations
• Excellent group facilitation and interpersonal skills
• Skilled at developing measurable treatment goals and documenting outcomes
• Comfortable collaborating with nurses, therapists, and case managers
• Good time management and organizational skills
