Shift Type: Monday-Friday day shifts (day shift starting at 7:00 AM, 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM); plus on-call nights (1–2 nights/week) 5:30 PM - 7:00 AM and on-call weekends 5:30 PM Friday - 7:00 AM Monday; holiday on-call as required; must respond to calls within 20 minutes

Candidate Pay Rate: $85 - $59.5 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive laboratory testing as a generalist across Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry and Blood Bank
• Operate and document testing in the Meditech LIS accurately and promptly
• Perform manual differentials and interpret results with care and precision
• Conduct phlebotomy procedures competently and compassionately
• Manage blood bank duties including crossmatches and compatibility testing
• Work independently in a Critical Access Lab setting and escalate when necessary
• Respond to on-call requests within a 20-minute window and resolve urgent issues overnight or on weekends
• Complete required orientation shifts and follow institutional policies and quality standards

Qualifications

• Certified MLT (AMT - MLT or MLS OR ASCP - MLT or MLS) — certification required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• MLT candidates: 3+ years blood bank experience and 2+ years performing manual differentials
• MT candidates: 1+ year blood bank experience and 1+ year performing manual differentials
• Minimum 1+ year of travel assignment experience (travel experience required)
• Must be a true generalist with hands-on phlebotomy skills
• Ability to work independently without a lab manager/supervisor on shift

Education

• AMT or ASCP certification (MLT or MLS) required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven blood bank knowledge and competency with compatibility testing
• Skilled in manual differentials and hematology techniques
• Comfortable across chemistry, coagulation and urinalysis testing
• Meditech LIS experience for order entry and result documentation
• Strong phlebotomy technique and specimen handling
• Good troubleshooting, time management and independent decision-making skills
• Reliable on-call responsiveness and clear communication under pressure
