Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting
• Support resident mobility and fall prevention through safe transfer techniques
• Observe residents and report changes in condition promptly to the nursing team
• Document care accurately and communicate clearly with interdisciplinary staff
• Create a calm, respectful atmosphere that promotes emotional well-being

Qualifications

• GNA certification (state-recognized) or equivalent required
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass background check and required health screenings (TB, immunizations)
• Prior experience with geriatric or long-term care populations is preferred
• Strong verbal communication skills and a caring, patient-centered approach

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent state training

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Basic patient assessment and vital sign monitoring
• Infection control and safe hygiene practices
• Familiarity with charting and basic electronic health record entries
• Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to work as part of a team
• Good time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
