Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Brooklyn Park, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Per diem (days vary), 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, day shift
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $17 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Monitor residents’ conditions and report changes promptly to nursing staff
- Support safe transfers and positioning to prevent falls and skin issues
- Document care activities accurately and maintain clear communication with the care team
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families to enhance their quality of life
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required)
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and working with older adult populations
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA/Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Foundational knowledge of geriatric care and age-related conditions
- Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
- Basic charting and documentation practices
- Infection control and proper use of PPE
- Compassionate bedside manner and patience with cognitive impairments
