Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to residents, assisting with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing leadership
- Assist with safe transfers and use of equipment to maintain resident safety
- Document care accurately and timely in the facility records
- Support a warm, dignified environment by engaging residents respectfully and encouraging social interaction
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification in Connecticut (state registry required)
- Valid CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain if required
- Prior experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred but new grads with strong skills are welcome
- Ability to pass background check and required health screenings/immunizations
- Strong communication skills and a resident-first attitude
- Ability to perform physical aspects of the role (lifting, standing, assisting residents)
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved CNA training program and current state certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic nursing assistant duties and best practices in long-term care
- Skills in safe resident handling and infection control
- Familiarity with documentation standards and attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a care team and follow care plans
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
