Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents and patients with dignity and respect
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting and mobility
• Take and record vital signs accurately and report any concerning changes promptly
• Support safe transfers and ambulation while using proper body mechanics
• Keep clear, timely documentation to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with nurses and the care team to follow care plans and meet patient goals
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control practices
• Build trusting relationships with patients and families through kindness and clear communication

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in Pennsylvania
• Active registration on the state CNA registry as required
• Basic Life Support or CPR certification preferred or required depending on facility policy
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening per facility requirements
• Comfortable with patient lifting and safe transfer techniques
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Prior experience in long-term care or similar settings is a plus but not always required

Education

• High school diploma or GED and completion of an approved CNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Fundamentals of patient care and ADLs
• Accurate vital signs measurement and basic clinical observation
• Infection control and standard precautions
• Basic documentation and charting skills
• Effective communication with patients, families and clinical staff
• Time management and prioritization during busy shifts
• Empathy, patience and the ability to remain calm under pressure
