Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem nights (varies/as-needed), 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, helping with daily living activities
Assist with bathing, dressing, feeding, mobility and toileting while preserving dignity
Monitor and report changes in residents condition to nursing staff promptly
Take and document vital signs and basic observations accurately
Support meaningful social interaction and encourage resident engagement
Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans

Qualifications

Valid GNA certification (required)
Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus
Comfortable with night shift responsibilities and working independently
Ability to pass background check, drug screen and any required health screenings
Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-centered attitude

Education

High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

Basic resident care and ADL assistance
Vital signs measurement and documentation
Infection control and safe transfer techniques
Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks
Compassionate communication with residents and families
Teamwork and responsiveness in a fast-paced care setting
