Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), variable nights (typically 3 nights/week), every other weekend required — 36 hours/week

Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, high-acuity nursing care to adults in the ED holding area and step-down/PCU patients
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and remote cardiac monitoring to rapidly identify changes in patient status
- Manage dysrhythmias and initiate appropriate interventions, collaborating with Rapid Response and Code teams
- Provide specialized care including tracheostomy management, chest tube care, HFNC/BiPAP support, and ABG interpretation
- Perform IV therapy skills: phlebotomy, PICC care, peripheral line management, and blood product administration
- Support patient transitions by floating to ED and MedSurg areas as needed while maintaining clear SBAR communication
- Document thoroughly in Epic and manage medication workflows using Pyxis and established unit systems
- Contribute to a safe, efficient unit by participating in storm/hurricane team duties and mandatory unit scheduling requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of clinical RN experience (MS/Telemetry, ED holding, or PCU experience preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- Must be able to pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty
- Comfortable with high-acuity adult patients and rapid turnover in an ED inpatient holding environment
- Willingness to work night shifts, every-other-weekend schedule, and participate in disaster/storm team assignments
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
- Travel/contract documentation as required for assignment (13-week contracts available)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation (on-unit and remote)
- Recognition and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
- Experience with Rapid Response/Code team activation and workflow
- Tracheostomy care, non-invasive airway management, and oxygen delivery modalities (NC, masks, HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP)
- Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac) and post-procedure care
- IV therapy skills: starting IVs, accessing ports, central line blood draws, PICC care, phlebotomy
- Feeding tube and colostomy care, blood product administration, heparin and insulin protocols
- Familiarity with Epic, Pyxis, SBAR, and standard hospital monitoring equipment
