Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough nutrition assessments and reassessments to develop tailored care plans
• Perform Nutrition-Focused Physical Exams (NFPE) and identify nutrition risk factors
• Interview patients to gather and verify clinical and dietary information with compassion
• Review and reconcile diet and therapeutic diet orders and explain menu modifications to patients
• Coordinate nutrition care in collaboration with registered dietitians and the interdisciplinary team
• Oversee meal-time mates program and review tube feeding and supplement orders
• Document care accurately in EPIC and other charting systems to ensure continuity of care
• Provide patient education that empowers recovery and supports long-term health

Qualifications

• BS in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field (required)
• Credentialing as Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (required)
• RD/RDN credential referenced in the posting (candidate should list relevant credentials)
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience as noted in the posting
• Proficiency with EPIC and general computer skills (Excel, Word, data entry)
• Experience with inpatient acute care nutrition operations; ICU experience is a plus
• Flu vaccine required per facility guideline (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
• Ability to stand/walk for most of the shift and communicate effectively with patients and staff

Education

• BS in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field

Knowledge & Skills

• Nutrition assessments and developing individualized treatment plans
• Nutrition-Focused Physical Exam (NFPE) techniques
• Enteral nutrition (tube feedings) and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) management
• Calorie counts, therapeutic diet orders, and nutrition therapy complication management
• Patient interviewing and education with strong interpersonal skills
• Charting and documentation in EPIC and familiarity with charting systems like Computrition
• Understanding of inpatient food & nutrition service operations and menu reconciliation
• Team coordination, problem solving, and program/process improvement abilities
