Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to rehabilitation patients, promoting recovery and independence
- Perform thorough assessments and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the care team
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, following facility protocols
- Monitor patient progress and adjust interventions, escalating concerns to providers when needed
- Document patient care clearly and timely in the medical record to ensure continuity and quality
- Educate patients and families on condition management, therapy goals, and discharge plans
- Participate actively in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate holistic care
- Champion safety initiatives including fall prevention, infection control, and patient mobility programs
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required for practice in New Mexico (or compact RN license where applicable)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS or other advanced certifications encouraged when relevant
- Experience or strong interest in rehabilitation nursing and working with patients recovering from injury or illness
- Ability to pass standard background checks and meet facility immunization requirements
- Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with therapists and physicians
- Comfort with electronic documentation and a commitment to timely, accurate charting
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Completion of accredited nursing program and active RN licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in patient assessment, care planning, and clinical documentation
- Medication administration and monitoring, including IV therapy basics
- Familiarity with rehabilitation goals: mobility, ADL training, and functional improvement
- Excellent interpersonal skills for patient and family education
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Teamwork and communication across nursing, therapy, and provider disciplines
