Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care to adult ICU patients with compassion and precision
• Assess and monitor patient condition, interpreting hemodynamic and ventilator data
• Administer medications and advanced life support per ACLS and unit protocols
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to create and update care plans
• Perform trauma and stroke assessments when indicated, using TNCC and NIHSS knowledge
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and ensure adherence to safety and infection control standards
• Mentor and support less-experienced staff while contributing to a positive unit culture

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to practice in Iowa or meet state licensure requirements)
• ICU clinical experience and comfort with critical care patient populations
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; TNCC and NIHSS preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklist
• Must complete required health screenings: fit test, 10-panel drug screen, immunizations (Tdap, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella), COVID-19 vaccine, and TB testing (2-step PPD or IGRA)
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced critical care environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced cardiac life support and arrhythmia recognition
• Ventilator management and respiratory assessment
• Hemodynamic monitoring and vasoactive medication administration
• Trauma and stroke assessment fundamentals (TNCC, NIHSS)
• Familiarity with central lines, arterial lines, and ICU equipment
• Clinical documentation, care planning, and patient/family education
