Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality critical care to adult ICU patients with compassion and precision
- Assess and monitor patient condition, interpreting hemodynamic and ventilator data
- Administer medications and advanced life support per ACLS and unit protocols
- Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to create and update care plans
- Perform trauma and stroke assessments when indicated, using TNCC and NIHSS knowledge
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and ensure adherence to safety and infection control standards
- Mentor and support less-experienced staff while contributing to a positive unit culture
Qualifications
- Active RN license (able to practice in Iowa or meet state licensure requirements)
- ICU clinical experience and comfort with critical care patient populations
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; TNCC and NIHSS preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklist
- Must complete required health screenings: fit test, 10-panel drug screen, immunizations (Tdap, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella), COVID-19 vaccine, and TB testing (2-step PPD or IGRA)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced critical care environment
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced cardiac life support and arrhythmia recognition
- Ventilator management and respiratory assessment
- Hemodynamic monitoring and vasoactive medication administration
- Trauma and stroke assessment fundamentals (TNCC, NIHSS)
- Familiarity with central lines, arterial lines, and ICU equipment
- Clinical documentation, care planning, and patient/family education
