Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field for orthopedic and neurosurgery procedures to ensure patient safety
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments efficiently during high-acuity cases
• Manage instrumentation, implants and specialty equipment for ortho and neuro cases
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond promptly to emergent surgical needs
• Complete Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and maintain required certifications
• Perform instrument and sponge counts, document perioperative care, and support accurate patient records
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses and perioperative staff to optimize OR flow and patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Proficiency in both Orthopedic surgery and Neurosurgery (required for call coverage)
• Ability to complete Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing
• Current license/certificate verification as required by facility
• Ability to pass required health screenings: fit test, Trinity 10-panel drug screen, physical/health statement
• Up-to-date immunizations and testing: 2-step PPD or IGRA, COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap
• Willingness to work a travel contract assignment in Boise, ID

Education

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
• CST credential (certification) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong sterile technique and OR aseptic practices
• Familiarity with orthopedic and neurosurgical instruments, implants and workflows
• Instrument processing, sterilization standards and accurate counting procedures
• Effective communication and teamwork in fast-paced surgical settings
• Comfort with perioperative documentation and basic EMR charting
• Ability to adapt to facility-specific protocols and complete competency training quickly
