Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and sterile field, ensuring instruments and supplies are ready for each procedure
• Assist the surgical team by anticipating needs, passing instruments, and maintaining sterile technique
• Perform instrument counts and documentation with meticulous attention to patient safety
• Assist with room turnover to maximize OR efficiency and support smooth patient flow
• Participate in specialty-specific competency testing and follow hospital protocols for infection control
• Communicate clearly with circulating nurses, surgeons, and anesthesia to provide coordinated care
• Maintain accurate license and certification records and complete required health screenings

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• License/certificate verification as part of credentialing
• Completion of Trinity specialty specific competency testing (or willingness to complete)
• Current fit testing and required immunizations as listed by employer
• Comfortable with on-call weekday coverage and one weekend day rotation
• Prior OR experience preferred but demonstrated competency and eagerness to learn are valued

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent
• High school diploma or GED required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong sterile technique and surgical instrumentation knowledge
• Familiarity with OR protocols, safety checks, and instrument counts
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in multidisciplinary settings
• Attention to detail for documentation and patient safety procedures
• Adaptability to day and night rotations and on-call responsibilities
