Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and clinical assessments to patients across acuity levels
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot ventilators and advanced respiratory equipment
• Deliver evidence-based therapies such as aerosol treatments, airway management, and oxygen therapy
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans
• Perform and document respiratory procedures, patient responses, and treatment plans accurately
• Support infection control measures including fit testing and vaccine-related screening
• Participate in competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical excellence

Qualifications

• Current respiratory therapy license or credential as required by Iowa (License/Certificate Verification)
• BLS certification (required)
• ACLS certification (required)
• Successful completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and specialty competency testing
• Fit test and up-to-date immunizations (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella)
• Negative drug screen and required pre-employment health clearance (2-step PPD or IGRA, physical/health statement)
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication, and teamwork skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in ventilator management and mechanical ventilation troubleshooting
• Proficient with airway management, ABG interpretation, and pulmonary function basics
• Familiarity with infection control protocols and fit testing procedures
• Comfortable performing documentation in electronic medical records and following protocols
• Able to teach and coach patients and families on home respiratory care when needed
• Detail-oriented with strong time management during high-acuity situations
