Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, timely laboratory test results that directly support patient care decisions
• Perform venous and arterial phlebotomy when needed and ensure proper specimen collection
• Operate and maintain testing across microbiology, hematology, chemistry, blood banking, coagulation, urinalysis, serology and blood gases
• Independently read and interpret microbiology results when required
• Report results clearly and communicate critical findings to providers in a timely manner
• Adapt quickly to varied situations in a rural hospital setting and cross-train across lab sections
• Maintain confidentiality, follow quality control procedures, and uphold safety standards
• Contribute positively to team interactions and help foster a collaborative lab culture

Qualifications

• Current ASCP certification (required)
• Demonstrated phlebotomy skills — venous and arterial blood collection
• Prior experience across microbiology, hematology, chemistry, blood banking, coagulation, urinalysis, serology, and blood gases
• Ability to read microbiology results independently (preferred)
• Emotionally mature, reliable, and able to perform well in STAT or stressful situations
• Excellent customer service and communication skills — oral, written, and listening
• Able to lift/move up to 15 lbs unassisted and heavier with assistance
• Willingness to modify schedule and work occasional graveyard/weekend shifts
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug test and background check

Education

• Current ASCP certification (Medical Laboratory Technician)
