Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality emergency nursing care to a very busy ED patient population
- Quickly assess, triage and prioritize patients to ensure the right care at the right time
- Perform clinical interventions and procedures appropriate to the emergency setting
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers and interdisciplinary teams for coordinated patient care
- Safely float to acute care units as needed and adapt to differing unit workflows
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the electronic charting system
- Advocate for patient safety and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of practice or compact license where applicable
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred or obtainable
- Prior emergency department experience preferred; float-pool or acute care background a strong plus
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a patient-centered approach
- Willingness and ability to float to acute units when operational needs require it
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program required (ADN or diploma)
- BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in emergency assessment, triage and prioritization
- Able to perform and interpret basic emergency procedures and monitoring
- Familiarity with acute care workflows and rapid patient turnover
- Comfortable with electronic documentation and handoffs
- Strong critical thinking, situational awareness and delegation skills
