Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, promptly recognizing and escalating dysrhythmias and acute changes
• Administer medications and manage heparin and insulin protocols safely and accurately
• Start and maintain IVs, manage PICC and central lines, and support blood product administration
• Provide clear, compassionate patient education and discharge instructions
• Collaborate with Rapid Response and Code teams during emergencies to deliver timely care
• Document patient care accurately in EPIC and communicate with interdisciplinary teams (pharmacy, PT, respiratory, social work)
• Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed to ensure excellent patient coverage
• Support wound care, non-invasive airway management, and other specialty post-surgical needs on the Progressive Care unit

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of Ohio) — ability to obtain if not currently licensed
• Minimum 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience (telemetry/step-down experience preferred)
• BLS and ACLS required (V CERT also required per facility guidelines)
• Proven telemetry experience and ability to pass the facility telemetry test
• Comfortable with IV starts, phlebotomy, and central/PICC line care
• EPIC charting experience required
• Ability to float to other units of similar or lower acuity and work independently in high-acuity situations
• Flu vaccine required per facility guideline (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred but not required.

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response procedures
• IV therapy, IV insulin protocols and titration of drips
• Central and peripheral line management and PICC care
• Blood product administration and PCA management
• Wound care and familiarity with wound vac systems
• Respiratory support basics: nasal cannula, oxygen delivery, non-invasive airway management
• Strong EPIC documentation and electronic charting skills
• Effective patient education and communication techniques
• Team collaboration and experience working with rapid response/code teams
