Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive dental exams and accurate diagnoses for adult patients
- Perform restorative and surgical dental procedures with attention to quality and safety
- Interpret and utilize dental radiographs to inform treatment plans
- Document clinical findings and treatment plans clearly and promptly in the patient record
- Maintain strict infection control and safety practices in all clinical activities
- Collaborate with facility medical and administrative staff to ensure continuity of care
- Support patient education and preventive oral health measures
- Cover an LOA/leave responsibly and professionally, ensuring smooth handoffs
Qualifications
- DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school
- Active California Dental License, or ability to obtain one prior to start
- Valid BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Clinical dental experience; experience in correctional or public health settings is a plus
- Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and ability to work independently
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in restorative dentistry, extractions, and basic oral surgery
- Comfort interpreting dental x-rays and creating treatment plans
- Familiarity with infection control standards and OSHA guidelines
- Skillful charting and documentation in electronic medical/dental records
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and diverse patient populations
- Good time management and the ability to prioritize clinical needs
