Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility
• Monitor residents’ condition and report changes to nursing staff promptly
• Provide compassionate, person-centered care that preserves dignity and respect
• Support safe transfers and ambulation, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Document care provided accurately and timely according to facility standards
• Help create a warm, social environment by engaging residents in conversation and activities
• Follow infection control, safety protocols and facility policies consistently

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain promptly
• Comfort working nights and supporting older adults with patience and empathy
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen and meet facility immunization requirements
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with nursing teams

Education

• Completion of a state-approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent
• High school diploma or GED preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and elder-focused best practices
• Skilled in safe patient handling and fall prevention strategies
• Competent with charting/documentation and following care plans
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a busy long-term care setting
• Compassion, patience and excellent interpersonal skills
