Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients within the facility
• Assess patient conditions, implement care plans, and monitor progress
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Document assessments, interventions and patient responses in the medical record
• Collaborate with security staff and multidisciplinary care teams to ensure safe patient care in a correctional setting
• Respond effectively to emergencies and urgent situations following facility protocols
• Promote infection prevention, patient safety, and adherence to regulatory standards
• Support patient education and chronic disease management with clear, patient-centered communication

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — California licensure preferred
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS or other certifications a plus
• Previous clinical nursing experience; correctional or med/surg experience is a strong plus
• Ability to pass required background checks and facility screenings
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical assessment and care planning
• Medication administration and accurate documentation
• Electronic health record (EHR) proficiency
• Infection control and patient safety practices
• Ability to work effectively within security-conscious environments
• Calm, decisive response to urgent clinical situations
