Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality progressive care to adult patients on telemetry/PCU units, prioritizing safety and comfort
• Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and respond promptly to changes in rhythm or status
• Perform IV starts, peripheral line care, and manage IV insulin GTT protocols safely and accurately
• Act as an effective member of Rapid Response and Code teams when emergencies arise
• Document care clearly and efficiently in EPIC to keep the care team aligned
• Float within units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed, bringing flexibility and teamwork
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners (PT, RT, pharmacy, radiology, transport) to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant nursing experience (PCU/telemetry experience preferred)
• BLS required
• ACLS required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Hands-on skills in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and intermediate/progressive care practice
• Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Comfort floating to units of equivalent or lower acuity

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring expertise
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• IV therapy, peripheral line care, and phlebotomy skills
• Familiarity with cardiac/IV insulin GTT protocols
• Non-invasive airway management and oxygen administration (nasal cannula, etc.)
• Rapid Response and code team participation
• Strong EPIC charting and clinical documentation skills
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and adapt to changing acuity
