Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and provide high-quality nursing care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients in the Progressive Care Unit
• Monitor telemetry and interpret EKGs to detect changes in cardiac status quickly
• Manage complex devices and lines including arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and multiple IV pumps
• Provide short-term ventilatory support and care for patients with noninvasive and invasive ventilation needs
• Administer and manage IV medications safely, including heparin, diltiazem, dobutamine, milrinone, amiodarone, and dopamine
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care from admission through discharge, including discharge planning
• Act as a clinical leader on the unit: provide direction to nursing and support staff and assist with precepting new team members
• Deliver compassionate, culturally sensitive care that addresses patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs

Qualifications

• Current State of Montana RN licensure required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required or obtained within 6 months of hire
• Progressive care, telemetry, and critical care experience preferred
• Comfortable caring for patients with central/arterial lines, chest tubes, and ventilatory support
• Experience with IV medication management and multiple IV pump use
• Pediatric experience, EPNC and TNCC certifications are a plus
• Ability to function independently, follow policies with minimal supervision, and take on clinical leadership/preceptor roles

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and critical care nursing fundamentals
• Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
• Use and troubleshooting of advanced medical equipment (A-lines, invasive lines, chest tubes)
• IV medication management and familiarity with common infusions used in cardiac and critical care
• Discharge planning and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Clinical leadership, precepting, and clear communication with providers and support staff
