Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and manage complex wounds using evidence-based wound care practices
- Develop and implement individualized wound care plans that drive healing
- Perform skilled wound treatments, debridement assistance, and advanced dressing changes
- Educate patients and families on wound prevention, home care, and follow-up
- Collaborate with physicians, physical therapy, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize outcomes
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient progress in the electronic medical record
- Maintain compliance with facility protocols, infection control practices, and required screenings
Qualifications
- WCC (Wound Care Certified) — required
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-appropriate) with license/certificate verification
- BLS certification — required
- Successful completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and ability to pass skills validation
- Current immunizations and health screenings per facility policy (PPD/IGRA, MMR, Hep B, Varicella, COVID-19, Influenza)
- Ability to pass Trinity 10-panel drug screen and meet health/fit-testing requirements
- Strong patient communication skills and demonstrated clinical judgment in wound care
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program and active RN license
Knowledge & Skills
- In-depth knowledge of wound assessment, staging, and documentation
- Familiarity with advanced wound dressings, negative pressure therapy, and debridement principles
- Skilled in infection prevention and control measures
- Proficient charting in electronic medical records and concise clinical documentation
- Excellent patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Ability to prioritize caseloads and manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting
