Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality Labor & Delivery and postpartum nursing care for mother/baby couplets, following AWHONN guidelines
• Monitor fetal status using OB Trace Vue and respond promptly to changes
• Titrate IV drips safely and confidently (e.g., magnesium, oxytocin) and manage common antepartum/postpartum medications
• Troubleshoot neonatal respiratory support devices (CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow) and collaborate with respiratory therapy and providers
• Document accurately and timely in Meditech to ensure continuity of care
• Coordinate care during C-sections by circulating for the baby and communicating with the surgical team
• Float to MSP/ED as needed to provide one-to-one patient care and assist the team during busy times
• Serve as a professional bedside advocate and educator for patients and their families

Qualifications

• Current RN license in good standing (ND license or eligibility to obtain)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS and NRP certifications required
• Experience titrating IV drips and managing common OB meds (magnesium, oxytocin, etc.)
• Comfort with neonatal CPAP/BiPAP/high-flow and basic troubleshooting
• Familiarity with OB Trace Vue EFM and Meditech charting
• Team player with solid communication skills and the ability to work independently in a rural setting

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or diploma in nursing required; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor & Delivery and Postpartum nursing practices
• Electronic fetal monitoring (OB Trace Vue) interpretation and documentation
• IV drip titration and medication administration in OB populations
• Neonatal respiratory support basics: CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow
• Meditech electronic charting proficiency
• AWHONN guidelines for unit ratios and safe staffing
• Ability to float and adapt to MSP/ED environments
• Charge nurse familiarity and effective shift communication
