Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care for telemetry/PCU cardiac patients using best practices
• Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and pulse-ox; recognize and respond to rhythm changes promptly
• Perform thorough respiratory and cardiac assessments and act on changes in patient condition
• Administer and monitor blood transfusions and IV therapies safely and competently
• Start peripheral IVs and assist with midline/central line removals per unit policy
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including RT, CN, case managers and rehab to coordinate care and throughput
• Support unit needs by floating to Med Surg, Tele, PCU or ED as required

Qualifications

• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS (must have to be considered)
• Telemetry experience required (experience caring for cardiac/PCU patients)
• Preferred: NIH Stroke Prepared, PALS, ICU, Telemetry/PCU experience
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR is a plus
• Team-player attitude, engaged, self-motivated and reliable for weekend/on-call coverage

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry monitoring skills and rhythm recognition
• Cardiac and respiratory assessment proficiency
• Competence with blood transfusion protocols and IV therapy
• Experience with continuous pulse oximetry and telemetry equipment
• Effective clinical documentation and communication in Meditech
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and adapt to floating assignments
