Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and stabilize critically ill and injured patients presenting with chest pain, stroke, trauma, respiratory emergencies and other acute conditions
• Deliver life-saving interventions for STEMI, cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest and other high-acuity emergencies
• Perform timely pediatric assessments and urgent care interventions for children with illness or injury
• Collaborate with transport teams to arrange safe transfer to higher-level care when required
• Document all patient care accurately and efficiently in Meditech
• Administer medications and monitor telemetry and vital signs for rapidly changing patients
• Follow unit policies including floating guidelines to support the team where needed
• Participate in unit-based quality and safety initiatives to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary/compact licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room (ER) nursing experience required
• Current BLS certification required
• Current ACLS certification required
• Current PALS certification required
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) required or equivalent trauma certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) competency required
• Meditech experience preferred
• Ability to float to other units as needed

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)
• Active RN license in Texas

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency assessment and triage skills
• Experience with stroke and STEMI protocols and rapid intervention
• Comfort with trauma care and stabilization techniques
• Pediatric emergency care experience
• Accurate, timely electronic documentation in Meditech
• Excellent communication, teamwork and critical thinking under pressure
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation experience
