Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub and provide expert perioperative assistance during cardiac, vascular and thoracic procedures including CABG, valve work, TAVR, EVAR and TEVAR
• Maintain strict sterile technique and scrub protocols to ensure patient safety in high-acuity cases
• Prepare, organize and manage specialized instruments and implants for complex cases such as LVAD, RVAD and ECMO
• Communicate clearly with surgeons, anesthesia and the perioperative team to anticipate needs and streamline workflow
• Document case details accurately in the EMR (Meditech) and support efficient case turnover
• Support on-call coverage professionally and respond within the required callback timeframe

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent (CST/ORT specialty preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience with demonstrated cardiac, vascular or thoracic case exposure
• Experience scrubing cardiac and vascular cases (CABG, valves, endovascular procedures) preferred
• Familiarity with Meditech or similar EMR systems is a plus
• Punctual, reliable with the ability to meet a 30-minute callback expectation
• Team-oriented, flexible and able to work collaboratively in a small, experienced unit

Education

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven scrub techniques and sterile field management
• Strong perioperative procedural knowledge for cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgeries
• Comfort working on cases involving ECMO, LVAD, RVAD and endovascular interventions
• Ability to manage specialized cardiac/vascular instrumentation and implants
• Familiar with Level 2 trauma coverage protocols for vascular and thoracic procedures
• Competent documentation skills in Meditech or similar EMR
