Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and maintain a sterile field for a broad variety of procedures
• Anticipate surgeon needs and efficiently pass instruments during general, GYN, robotics, neuro, ortho, plastic, urology, burn, and trauma cases
• Perform perioperative documentation accurately using Cerner and maintain clear patient records
• Assist with setup, breakdown, and instrument handling for robotic and specialty surgeries
• Participate in unit call rotation and respond promptly to emergent surgery needs
• Collaborate with the perioperative team to ensure patient safety and excellent outcomes

Qualifications

• CST or ORT experience preferred; specialty in OR practice expected
• Minimum 2+ years of operating room surgical technologist experience (explicit requirement)
• Proven broad surgical knowledge across service lines listed in the job description
• Familiarity with Cerner perioperative documentation
• Willingness to participate in call rotation and float to other departments as needed
• Current basic life support (BLS) as required by facility or will obtain prior to start

Knowledge & Skills

• Broad surgical knowledge including general surgery, GYN, robotics, neurosurgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery, urology, burn, and trauma
• Perioperative documentation experience with Cerner
• Strong sterile technique and instrument handling skills
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in urgent situations
• Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced OR environment
• Familiarity with OR scheduling variability and call procedures
