Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and sterile field, ensuring instruments and supplies are ready for each case
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and anticipating procedural needs
• Maintain strict sterile technique and adherence to infection control standards
• Perform instrument counts and verify completeness of sterile trays before, during, and after cases
• Clean, decontaminate, and restock instruments and equipment between cases to support efficient turnover
• Document case information accurately and communicate effectively with the perioperative team
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to stay current with OR protocols and technologies

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent training
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or eligible
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained upon hire
• Prior operating room experience preferred; new grads with strong clinical training are encouraged to apply
• Strong attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, and excellent teamwork and communication skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of sterile processing and surgical instrumentation
• Familiarity with operating room workflows and perioperative protocols
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient in basic documentation and charting related to OR procedures
• Strong teamwork, communication, and adaptability skills
