Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead development, implementation, and maintenance of the SEARHC Infection Prevention and Control Program to meet regulatory and best-practice standards
• Collect, analyze, trend, and report infection data accurately to NHSN and other regulatory agencies
• Develop, update, and implement infection prevention policies and procedures using CDC, CMS, OSHA, FDA, TJC, and APIC guidance
• Design and deliver engaging education and training for staff, patients, families, and community partners
• Chair the Infection Prevention and Control committee and provide oversight for the Employee Health program
• Serve as the subject matter expert for infection prevention, staying current on literature and translating evidence into practice
• Collaborate with public health and regional/state entities to ensure timely reporting and coordinated response
• Travel to remote sites to assess practices, provide training, and support local teams

Qualifications

• Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state required
• Direct hires must have applied for an Alaska nursing license prior to start; agency staff must hold an active Alaska license
• Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field required (nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or similar)
• Master's degree (MPH or MSN) preferred
• Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC) required
• BLS current within 3 months of hire and maintained biannually
• Clinical competency and manager competency required within 3 months of hire and periodically thereafter
• Minimum 3 years of acute care/infection control and/or data collection and performance improvement/risk management experience
• Experience with basic statistics and epidemiologic principles; long-term care experience a plus

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent (explicitly listed)
• Bachelor's degree in healthcare-related field required (nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or similar)
• Master's degree (MPH, MSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong working knowledge of epidemiology and infectious disease principles
• Proficiency with NHSN reporting and regulatory reporting requirements
• Comfortable with data collection, statistical analysis, trending, and reporting
• Proficient in MS Office and common database applications
• Skilled at translating regulatory requirements into policy and practical workflows
• Excellent communication skills tailored to diverse audiences and varied health literacy levels
• Project management and performance improvement methodology experience
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across clinical and administrative teams
