Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert respiratory assessment, treatment and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies, asthma, pneumonia and emphysema
• Manage mechanical ventilators and advanced airway devices, adjusting settings and monitoring patient responses
• Perform ABG collection and interpretation, and deliver aerosolized/nebulizer treatments and CPT as ordered
• Initiate and manage noninvasive ventilation including CPAP and BiPAP for appropriate patients
• Document timely and accurate patient care in the EMR (Meditech) and communicate changes to the care team
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and other clinicians to develop and implement effective respiratory care plans
• Act as a clinical resource on the unit during your shift, supporting quality, safety and efficient patient flow

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• BLS, ACLS and NRP certifications (required)
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care hospital RRT experience (required)
• Trauma experience (preferred)
• Prior Meditech experience preferred by director

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with mechanical ventilators (Servo I, Hamilton, Astral) and ventilator management
• Experience with CPAP, BiPAP, V60 and nebulizer therapies
• ABG sampling and interpretation
• Chest physiotherapy (CPT) and other respiratory procedures
• Comfortable documenting in Meditech EMR
• Strong critical thinking, teamwork and effective communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume regional hospital environment
