Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert respiratory care for adult (and select NICU) patients in a high-acuity ICU setting
• Assist with bronchoscopies and perform all arterial blood gas (ABG) responsibilities accurately
• Manage and troubleshoot ventilators and advanced devices (Cervo I, Jets, oscillators, V60, CPAP/BiPAP)
• Lead and coordinate clinical response team activities with shift Lead
• Deliver 35–40 procedures (RVUs) per day while maintaining patient safety and documentation standards
• Chart patient care promptly and accurately in Cerner and communicate changes effectively to the care team
• Serve as a team player who mentors peers, practices excellent time management, and supports unit goals
• Adhere to unit policies including dress code (black scrubs) and holiday/weekend rotation

Qualifications

• AZ Respiratory Therapist license in hand (mandatory)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential via NBRC (mandatory; AZ license not granted without RRT)
• BLS required; NRP required for roles including NICU coverage; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of strong ICU respiratory experience (posting lists 3 years as a target; 3 years preferred)
• Proficiency assisting with bronchoscopies and running advanced ventilators/oscillators
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Ability to lead on shift, respond to high-acuity situations, and work every other weekend/holiday rotation

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or related clinical field
• RRT credential via NBRC (required)
• Note: job posting references BSN in template, but RRT + proper respiratory education is primary

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced ventilator management (Cervo I, Jets, oscillators, V60, CPAP/BiPAP)
• Bronchoscopy assistance and ABG collection/analysis
• High-acuity ICU workflows and procedures
• Electronic charting in Cerner and accurate clinical documentation
• Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills
• Clinical triage and rapid response coordination
