Roles & Responsibilities

Assess and treat pediatric patients with respiratory conditions using evidence-based practice
Provide ventilator management, airway support and respiratory modalities appropriate for children
Respond quickly and confidently to respiratory emergencies and collaborate in code situations
Educate patients and families on respiratory care plans and home strategies
Document interventions, outcomes and changes in patient status accurately and timely
Work closely with nurses, physicians and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care

Qualifications

Credentialed Respiratory Therapist (CRT or RRT) preferred
Active Respiratory Care license in the state of Ohio or ability to obtain
Current BLS certification required; PALS preferred or willing to obtain
Comfort and experience working with pediatric patients is highly valued
Strong clinical judgment and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital setting

Education

Associate degree or completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
Completion of an accredited clinical RT program and required state licensure

Knowledge & Skills

Proficiency in ventilator management and pediatric airway techniques
Ability to interpret arterial blood gases and apply results to clinical care
Familiarity with pediatric respiratory devices and modalities
Strong communication skills with patients, families and the care team
Solid clinical documentation skills and attention to detail
