Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver full-scope cardiopulmonary care across the lifespan with compassion and respect
• Manage airways and assist with intubation and advanced airway procedures when needed
• Operate and manage ventilators for adult, pediatric, and infant patients
• Obtain and analyze arterial blood gases (ABGs) and perform PFT testing
• Perform chest physiotherapy, patient suctioning, and oxygen therapy safely
• Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments and equipment
• Accurately document therapies, write reports, and assist in revising procedure manuals
• Collaborate with physicians, managers, and the care team to solve clinical problems

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-accredited Respiratory Therapy program with an AS degree
• NBRC credentials required (CRTT, CRT, RT, or RRT acceptable)
• Minimum 1 year clinical respiratory therapy experience in a hospital setting
• BLS required; ACLS and PALS encouraged
• Comfortable working day or night shifts and able to adapt to unit needs
• Strong communication skills and ability to use an interpreter when needed

Education

• Associate of Science (AS) in Respiratory Therapy from an AMA-accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Airway management and intubation assist
• Ventilator operation and management for all ages
• ABG procurement and analysis, including ISTAT experience
• Pulmonary function testing (PFT) and pulmonary function equipment use
• Chest physiotherapy, patient suctioning, and oxygen delivery systems
• Familiarity with EKG, treadmill/stress testing, Holter and event monitors
• Ability to read/interpret physician orders, technical manuals, and policies
• Report writing, documentation accuracy, and basic mathematical competency
