Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform initial triage and full assessments for patients of all ages, prioritizing care and patient flow
• Administer medications (oral, topical, IM, SQ, IV push/infusion) and initiate/maintain IV therapy safely
• Document assessments, interventions, education, and outcomes thoroughly in the EMR
• Provide telephone triage and next-day follow-up calls with clear patient education and care plans
• Coordinate referrals and track outcomes, acting as a primary link between providers and external facilities
• Maintain infection control standards and a safe, well-stocked clinical environment
• Respond to emergency situations and participate in department improvement and team development
• Serve as or support vaccine coordination efforts when needed

Qualifications

• Active, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state (Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start; agency staff must hold an active Alaska license)
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and qualified to take the NCLEX
• 2 years of general nursing experience with at least 1 year in ambulatory or urgent care preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
• Clinical Competency assessment (SEARHC) required within 3 months of hire and every three years
• High Risk Competency (SEARHC) required within 3 months of hire and annually
• Ability to perform IV initiation/maintenance, medication administration, and urgent care procedures confidently

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (eligible to take NCLEX)
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong triage and patient assessment skills with clinical prioritization
• Proficient in medication administration and IV therapy
• Competent documentation and charting practices in EMR systems
• Knowledge of infection control and clinic protocols
• Customer-service oriented communication and patient education
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and manage referrals/case coordination
• Calm, focused performance during urgent or emergent situations
