Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care within the Short Stay/SDU setting
• Assess, monitor, and document patient status using clinical judgment and established protocols
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to coordinate timely patient care and discharges
• Respond effectively to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Educate patients and families on care plans, procedures, and follow-up needs

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact state privileges where applicable)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or as required by facility
• Experience in Short Stay Unit (SDU), progressive care, or acute care settings preferred
• Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced unit
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in patient monitoring and interpretation of vital signs and telemetry
• Skilled in medication administration and IV therapy
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) documentation
• Ability to perform focused clinical assessments and implement nursing interventions
• Comfortable collaborating with physicians, advanced practice providers, and ancillary staff
