Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care in the step-down/SDU setting
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and other continuous monitoring data to detect changes early
• Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Perform thorough assessments and implement nursing interventions promptly
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans in a clear and respectful way
• Document care accurately and timely to maintain continuity and safety
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives on the unit

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Louisiana or compact RN license holder (as applicable)
• Experience or orientation in a step-down/SDU environment preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and telemetry monitoring skills
• Ability to work 12.5-hour clinical shifts and collaborate with a fast-paced team
• Current immunizations and any facility-required screenings

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in patient assessment and early recognition of clinical deterioration
• Telemetry/monitoring interpretation and rapid response skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Strong prioritization and time management in high-acuity settings
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate documentation practices
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient safety
