Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor post-anesthesia patients closely and manage recovery to ensure safe, timely transitions
• Administer and manage IV starts, IV drips, arterial lines, and pain blocks with precision
• Perform thorough patient assessments and escalate changes in condition promptly
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical teams, and unit staff to coordinate seamless patient care
• Document care accurately in Meditech and maintain clear handoffs for continuity
• Provide patient and family education on recovery expectations and discharge instructions
• Maintain patient ratios (typically 1:1 or 1:2) to deliver focused, high-quality care

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (state-specific requirements apply)
• 1-3 years of PACU experience (must have)
• Experience in a Level 2 trauma hospital (required)
• Current ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications (required)
• Comfortable with IV starts, drips, arterial lines, and pain blocks
• Experience with Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong PACU nursing skills and patient monitoring expertise
• Proficiency with post-anesthesia assessment and airway management basics
• Skill in vascular access, IV medication administration, and line management
• Familiarity with trauma protocols and rapid triage in a Level 2 setting
• Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced perioperative environment
• Accurate and timely documentation practices
