Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide attentive, family-centered critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU
• Monitor and interpret patient status using clinical judgment and unit technology
• Administer medications and therapies safely and accurately according to protocols
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team
• Maintain clear, timely documentation to support continuity of care
• Participate in orientation and unit training to ensure competence and confidence
• Advocate for patients and families with compassion and professionalism
• Support unit safety, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Massachusetts or compact RN as applicable)
• Experience or demonstrated interest in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and other certifications encouraged
• Ability to pass facility orientation and competency validation
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical assessment skills for critically ill pediatric patients
• Familiarity with hemodynamic monitoring and pediatric ventilator basics
• Medication administration and safe dosing practices for children
• Ability to prioritize and respond quickly in high-acuity situations
• Effective teamwork, documentation, and family-centered communication
