Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the operating room
Prepare the OR, instruments and supplies and ensure sterile technique is maintained
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and the perioperative team to deliver efficient, high-quality care
Monitor patient status before, during and after procedures and respond promptly to changes
Document care accurately and communicate details for safe handoffs
Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
Mentor and support colleagues, contributing to a positive team environment

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact license if applicable
Experience in operating room nursing or perioperative care preferred
Current BLS certification required; ACLS or specialty certifications encouraged
Strong clinical assessment and patient safety focus
Excellent teamwork, communication and time management skills

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Aseptic technique and sterile field maintenance
Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and procedural flow
Patient monitoring and recognition of clinical changes
Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams
Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced surgical environment
