Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical techs to ensure smooth procedures
• Maintain strict aseptic technique and instrument sterility throughout cases
• Perform pre-op assessments and prepare patients for surgery with empathy and clarity
• Conduct instrument and equipment checks and support efficient room turnover
• Document intraoperative care and communicate handoffs clearly for continuity
• Advocate for patient safety, comfort, and best outcomes during all phases of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain one
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS or specialty periop certifications preferred
• Prior Operating Room or perioperative nursing experience preferred
• Comfort working as part of a fast-paced surgical team and adapting to varying case types
• Strong attention to sterile technique, infection control, and patient safety protocols

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments, supplies, and OR equipment
• Proficient documentation skills in electronic medical records (EMR)
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-stakes environments
• Strong situational awareness, time management, and prioritization abilities
